How can we assist you?

    Construction Law

Whether or not property and construction are your core activities, every business or organisation will at one point have building issues. Van Doorne offers its services to clients, contractors and consultants.

Traditional as well as innovative contracts

We have an in-depth and broad knowledge of construction law. We have extensive knowledge of and experience with many traditional agreements that are still popular, such as those based on the Uniform Administrative Conditions for the Execution of Works 2012 [Uniforme Administratieve Voorwaarden voor de uitvoering van werken 2012]. We also use a lot of integrated agreements such as design-and-build agreements, with or without maintenance. One example is UAV-GC 2005.

We stood at the basis of the DBFMO contract form in the Netherlands. We also regularly apply other forms of contract to our clients such as construction team, supply chain management and alliance. This also applies to the agreements with consultants who are involved in building projects on the basis of Legal relationship client-architect, engineer and consultant DNR 2011 [Rechtsverhouding opdrachtgever-architect, ingenieur en adviseur DNR 2011], for instance.

All our efforts are aimed at preventing failure costs during a building project to the greatest possible extent. A project needs to be completed in time, within budget and at the right level of quality. The right, tailor-made agreement contributes to that.

From the outline design to the defects liability period

Our involvement in a building project is often of a long-term nature. In general, we are involved right from the start and we help to determine the correct contracting (and tendering) strategy. We prepare the necessary agreements and we offer advice about all legal aspects that are relevant to building projects. We will also assist our clients when a client and a contractor or a consultant have a dispute.

We assess your legal chances and can help you come to a solution that is acceptable to all parties. If that is not possible, we will litigate for our clients. This may be at the court but also at the Arbitration board for the building industry [Raad van Arbitrage voor de Bouw (RvA)], for instance.
