Funds & Investment Management
Van Doorne's Funds & Investment Management practice offers a full-service investment management proposition to (fund) managers and (institutional) investors like pension funds and insurers. Our integrated team of lawyers, tax advisers and civil-law notaries combines the relevant expertise in tax, corporate law, financial supervision, finance and real estate with in-depth industry knowledge.

Fund structuring

Our services cover all the main asset classes, comprise both retail investment funds (UCITS and non-UCITS) and alternative investment funds, and cover both setting up the fund and advisory services throughout the fund’s life cycle.

Fund investments

This includes assessing and negotiating investments in investment funds by potential investors, like pension funds and insurers.

Investment services

These pertain to drafting and advising on agreements between investors (like pension funds, insurers and fund managers) and service providers (like investment managers and custodians), such as:

  • discretionary investment management agreements (or IMAs);
  • fiduciary/integrated investment management agreements; and
  • custody agreements.

Financial supervisory laws and regulations

Advice covers all rules that may be relevant in the context of:

  • investment funds (AIFMD and UCITS);
  • investment services (MiFID II / MiFIR);
  • institutional investors (for instance, where the rules cover the situation in which a pension fund or insurer outsources services to a third party)
  • sustainability (primarily the rules under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and the Taxonomy Regulation).

Van Doorne’s pension team

Van Doorne is the partner for pension funds, pension insurers, regulators and pension providers for pension issues. Van Doorne has combined its expertise in Funds & Investment Management as described above with the experience and knowledge of other areas of law and sectors in our integrated Pensions Team.
