Van Doorne appoints 4 new partners and counsels

Van Doorne appoints tax specialist Sjoerd Stokmans and Steffen Alleman (M&A) as partners. Maarten Appels (corporate law notary) and Cees Jan de Boer (European and competition law) have been appointed as counsel.

The appointments are effective from 1 January 2020. With the appointment of Sjoerd and Steffen, Van Doorne’s partner group consists of 40 partners.

  Sjoerd Stokmans (1986) joined Van Doorne in 2012 as a tax advisor in the corporate law practice, where he focuses on the tax support of mergers and acquisitions, both for buyers/sellers (including private equity) and management, financial restructurings, real estate investments, share and bond issues and high net-worth individuals.
Steffen Alleman (1977) joined Van Doorne in 2006 and works in the corporate transaction practice. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and buy-out transactions and management participations. In addition, he has a special focus on share transactions in commercial real estate. Steffen advises Dutch and foreign companies as well as private equity funds and other investors in international and national transactions. Steffen obtained a postgraduate degree (cum laude) in corporate law from the Grotius Academie in 2012.
  Maarten Appels (1983), civil-law notary, joined Van Doorne in 2011 as a member of the corporate law practice. His practice covers corporate law, corporate governance, national and cross-border structuring, M&A and management participations. He focuses mainly on Dutch and international companies, including multinationals, scale-ups and family businesses.
  Cees Jan de Boer (1979) joined Van Doorne in 2005 and specialises in competition and market regulation in the healthcare and life sciences sector. He also studied medicine and passed his docter’s exam in 2004. In addition to his work as a lawyer, Cees Jan is a director of the Hospice Kajan in Hilversum and board member of the KNMG’s advisory committee.
