Daan Beenders will be joining Van Doorne’s litigation practice as a partner on 1 October 2022. His arrival will strengthen Van Doorne’s leading position in commercial dispute resolution.
Saskia Laseur, managing partner: “A few years ago, we expressed our ambition to become the leading litigation firm in the Netherlands. After the arrival of Rogier Schellaars (arbitration), Neyah van der Aa (criminal defence and sanctions), Jan van der Grinten (administrative law) and the internal partner appointments of Sjoerd Kamerbeek (corporate litigation), Bas van Zelst (arbitration) and Vanessa Liem (investigations and business conduct), Daan’s arrival is a final step towards achieving that ambition. The arrival of such an experienced top-class litigator is proof that our proposition holds true. Working together with Daan, we are convinced that we will achieve that ambition.”
Daan is joining Van Doorne after exactly 20 years at De Brauw, 12 of which as a partner. He is a specialist in the field of commercial litigation. Daan has a proven track record in this area, focusing in recent years on the rise of class actions in the Netherlands. He has been involved as a lawyer in some of the largest and most high-profile cases in the Netherlands.
Clients describe him as “an extremely smart and effective lawyer who never loses sight of the bigger picture” (Legal 500 – 2021). Daan also won ILO’s Client Choice Award for Best Litigation Lawyer in the Netherlands. In addition to his role as a lawyer, he acts as a deputy judge and very regularly lectures and publishes in his area of expertise. His profile fits seamlessly with Van Doorne’s rich history as a litigation firm and with the values it cherishes.
Daan: “I am very much looking forward to joining Van Doorne. Its client-oriented approach appeals to me greatly. I am also very inspired by Van Doorne’s growth. It has an experienced, eager and diverse team in place that I am very happy to be joining. I am convinced that I can best serve my clients in this setting and that we will achieve our joint ambitions.”
Jasper Leedekerken, Head of Litigation: “We are very pleased that Daan is joining us. His specific knowledge and experience are an excellent addition to our commercial and corporate litigation practice and will enable us to serve our clients even better. We look forward to this great step forward in the development of our firm.”
