    Pim Jansen

    Lawyer

    Pim is part of the European & Competition Law team. He specializes in all branches of European and Dutch competition law. Furthermore, he has broad experience in the field of regulated markets (including energy, telecommunication, healthcare and pilotage services), administrative law (including spatial planning law) and intellectual property law.

    Driven. Conscientious. Expert.

    Pim is also Assistant Professor at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EMR) in the field of public law. He is a member of the Competition Law Association and the Academic Society for Competition Law. Pim regularly publishes in renowned Dutch and European journals.

    Previously, Pim worked as a researcher at the Economic Law Department of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. His doctoral research focused on industrial policy under EU law.

    Highlights of the main changes in the new VBER

    10 November 2022
    The new Vertical Block Exemption Regulation (VBER) and accompanying Vertical Guidelines came into force on 1 June 2022. The new VBER applies to all agreements concluded on or after 1 June 2022 and is valid until 31 May 2034. Agreements in effect on 31 May 2022 which benefited from an exemption under the old VBER will continue to be covered by the exemption until 31 May 2023. Undertakings should thus bring existing agreements in line with the new VBER before then.

    European Commission announces consultation on sustainability within competition law

    29 September 2020
    Last week EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager announced that the European Commission (Commission) will launch a public consultation on competition law and sustainability. We expect the Commission to publish a call for contributions in the next few weeks. Vestager mentions that this consultation follows recent initiatives by the Dutch and Greek competition authorities, both of which focus on sustainability in the context of competition.
