IPFA Continental Europe | Warming Up for the New Heat Market in the Netherlands
Thursday 18 september 2025 | Van Doorne, Amstelveenseweg 638, Amsterdam
District heating plays a crucial role in the Dutch energy transition. The ambitions are high: to meet decarbonisation targets, approximately 100,000 homes need to be connected to renewable district heating every year. Currently, that number is around 15,000.
At the same time, the reality is challenging. Legislative and regulatory changes, debates around public ownership and complex financing issues make the business case for heat networks far from straightforward.
During this session, we will address the most important legal and financial challenges and discuss potential solutions.
Topics of discussion
- The feasibility of district heating business cases
- Public ownership: role and implementation in heat companies
- Project and financing risks for district heating networks
Speakers
- Ivan Das, Director Project Finance Europe, Africa & Asia, Rabobank
- Léone Klapwijk, Partner, Van Doorne
- Roelof Potters, Programme Manager Heat Systems Transition, Alliander
More speakers to be announced shortly.
