From 1 October, Van Doorne strengthened its position as a leading advisor within the energy industry with the arrival of partner Léone Klapwijk (1979). She completes the three-legged structure for a solid energy practice: regulatory, transactional and litigation.
According to managing partner Saskia Laseur, the arrival of Léone Klapwijk once again strengthens Van Doorne's profile within the regulated markets: "I am pleased that our firm is investing in knowledge of and positioning within the energy sector. Van Doorne has been acting for energy companies, regulators, government bodies, customers and investors for many years. With Léone, we are even better able to be the legal hub for large energy projects and energy transactions, but certainly also for legal disputes. Moreover, Léone is a very approachable and pleasant person!"
Léone Klapwijk is looking forward to the collaboration: "The energy law practice, and in particular the work in the context of the energy transition, fits in nicely with Van Doorne's desire to play a significant role in the important issues of modern times and to respond to social and behavioural changes. In addition, Van Doorne has a team of specialists in all areas of the law who are needed to be able to work with full service on (creative and innovative) solutions to energy issues of any kind".
Léone advises network operators, supply and production companies in the regulated sector and companies in the chemical and industrial sectors, as well as governments. She therefore has broad experience in solving problems in the field of regulated (heat, electricity, drinking water and gas) and non-regulated (CO2, fuels) utilities.
The Van Doorne specialists work together with parties from every segment of the energy sector: from oil field services to upstream, midstream and downstream companies, from industry parties, drinking water companies, and network operators to heat companies. In doing so, they use Van Doorne's national and international networks.
