Van Doorne launches new website: sancties.nl
15-05-2012
The new website www.sancties.nl recently went live. Sancties.nl, an initiative of Van Doorne, is an informative website dealing with enforcement and supervision. Van Doorne attorneys post information on Sancties.nl regarding enforcement and supervisory practice, furthering Van Doorne’s desire to provide a platform for this area of law.
The website is aimed, for example, at companies that operate in regulated markets such as the financial markets, telecoms and healthcare. It is also directed at companies that have - or may have - dealings with the Netherlands Competition Authority (NMA).
Blogs by Van Doorne attorneys form a key element of the website. Experts in various disciplines write about topical developments, looking to make the sometimes turgid material accessible for the target group.
The website also provides news about measures from regulators such as the AFM, OPTA, the NMA and the Dutch Healthcare Authority. These measures may include an imposition of fines. Less mediagenic but certainly having equal impact are enforcement actions by means of imposition of an order subject to penalty or the active exercise of administrative coercion. Relevant case law will also be considered.
According to Hugo Reumkens, chairman of the Board, the launch is in keeping with Van Doorne’s policy of sharing legal knowledge online and bringing up developments for discussion:
“By way of an addition to the existing corporate website www.vandoorne.com we have decided to launch this website, which focuses on sanctions law. Via this website, we can communicate in a more direct and interactive manner with our target group. The website in its current form is the first step. We hope that the initiative will be successful and that it can develop into a lively forum for professionals and other interested parties.”
Van Doorne’s Sancties.nl team consists of: Arno Voerman (Banking and Finance counsel), Cees Kniestedt (Property partner), Sarah Beeston (European and Competition Law partner), Marg Janssen (Health Care partner), Simone Hoogeveen (Litigation and Insurance counsel), Henriëtte Bast (Litigation and Insurance attorney) and Marnix de Meij (European and Competition Law attorney).
