Biography
Kees Stuurman is a partner at Van Doorne and head of the Information Technology group. He is also a professor of Information Technology Regulation at the Institute for Law, Technology and Society (TILT) at Tilburg University.
Kees specialises among other things in providing legal advice on IT transactions, varying from advice in the preparation and contract phase up to and including assistance in the event of IT-disputes. In this context he has, inter alia, extensive experience in the areas of outsourcing, IT and telecommunications contracting and European IT tendering procedures. He is often involved in complex ICT-projects and, in many cases, works closely together with IT experts and other disciplines (finance and management). Furthermore, as a specialist in the field of ICT-related legislation and regulations, he has extensive experience in giving legal advice with regard to e-commerce (including electronic contracting, website compliance and the electronic signature), privacy, evidence and data preservation, open source, IT governance and IT security.
Furthermore, he is active in the area of self-regulation (i.e. standardisation, certification and codes of conduct).
