CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility
Our focus on quality is not limited to our legal and other services, but is also translated into our corporate social responsibility.
Pro Bono
We are actively involved in the Johan Cruijff Foundation, Cliniclowns, Concertgebouw, the children’s cancer foundation Stichting Kinderen Kankervrij KIKA, the Red Cross and the Amsterdam VU University medical centre. In addition to an active partnership, we support these organisations on a pro bono basis with specific legal services.
Social responsibility
Van Doorne stimulates and facilitates broad social involvement and management volunteering. Collectively, our employees hold nearly 100 sideline positions ranging from advisor, supervisory board member, executive board member, chair and secretary to managing director.
Diversity
Traditionally, the corporate culture at Van Doorne can be typified as multiform. This means that diversity is anchored in our organisation. Van Doorne signed the “Diversity in advocacy” Letter of Intent in 2007. With complete conviction it also signed the Talent to the Top Charter in 2008. We wholeheartedly support these initiatives and believe that by stimulating diversity among our employees, we can enhance our culture and services thanks to varied perspectives and differences in experience and background.
Long before gender diversity became an issue in business services, Van Doorne was already positively distinguishing itself in this area in comparison with other law firms. It continues to do so: Van Doorne won the 2009 Sonja Boekman Award. Each year this award is given to the firm that has the most effective diversity policy for women. Van Doorne also won the 1st KNB Innovation Prize in 2009 thanks to its successful diversity policy.
In the area of multicultural diversity in particular, however, Van Doorne hopes to achieve even more. A diversity partner has been appointed and awareness training courses have been started for that purpose.
Sustainability
Measures in the area of sustainability include, for example, separated waste disposal, sustainable energy consumption, a climate control system, lighting with motion detectors, transport management, effective stock management for catering and office supplies, use of multifunctional units to reduce equipment numbers and paper consumption, environmentally friendly cleaning agents, and effective water consumption.
